Robotic Storage System

  • Arm rotates up to store objects near the ceiling without requiring use of a ladder.

  • Arm rotates down for convenient access to those objects.

  • Great for storing seasonal items (e.g., bikes & lawn chairs) or bulky gear (e.g., canoes).

  • Available with:
           • Twin single arms with storage hooks (as shown).
           • Single arm with storage hook.
           • Twin parallelogram arms with open shelf or enclosed cabinet.

robotic storage system up and down

This is a picture of the prototype of our robotic storage system.  As shown, a ladder is suspended on robotic storage arms that rotate up for storage near the ceiling and rotate down for convenient access to the ladder (or other objects).  This increases your storage space because most people avoid using the upper garage walls for storage because placing and removing objects there is inconvenient and often necessitates use of a ladder, which can be dangerous.  Using our robotic system, with just the push of a button, objects are lowered to waist height, or other convenient height, for unloading.  Large or bulky items, such as canoes and lawn chairs, are easily stored up and out of the way.

robotic storage system control panel

This is the control panel for the robotic storage system.  To store an object high on the wall, just press the  UP  switch; to lower it for access, press the  DOWN  switch.  It is much faster and safer than climbing on a ladder to store and retrieve objects.  And  it's fun to watch!

Frequently asked questions about the robotic storage system

Q: Must it be mounted on slatwall?

A: No.  It can be mounted on any wall type (drywall, bare studs, concrete, or cement block).

Q: How do I prevent my children from activating the robotic storage system?

A: When you are not using the robotic storage system, just remove the safety key and place it in a safe spot.

Q: How much does the robotic storage system cost?

A: There is no set price because we custom engineer every system to meet our customer's needs.  Some of the variables are:  maximum weight capacity, storage arm length (taller walls require longer arms), storage arm width, paired or unpaired arm systems, single arm system (as shown) or twin parallelogram arms (for use with shelves and enclosed cabinets), and system type:  electronic as shown, or manual (in which you pull on a cable to raise or lower the object).

Q: Can it be installed in rooms other than the garage?

A: Yes.  It is also suitable for tall basements, sheds, and pole barns.

Q: Why did you design this so the robotic arms push the load away from the wall while it is being raised or lowered?  Wouldn't it be much simpler to just raise it straight up and down?

A: That would be simpler, but not as good for two reasons.  First, a circular path away from the wall allows you to store objects below the raised and lowered positions of your object stored on the robotic storage system.  If the object moved straight up and down, you would lose a significant amount of wall storage space because you could not store anything in its path.  Furthermore, if you raise an object straight up and down while it is adjacent to a wall, it might scrape the wall and possibly damage it.  You could move the storage system away from the wall to avoid this problem, but hanging objects away from the perimeter of your room is unsightly and can interfere with your use of that space.
