Q: How is slatwall attached to walls?
A: By using nails, screws, adhesive, a proprietary hidden fastener, or a
combination of these methods. For example, we often use both nails and
adhesive. The nail heads are small and are sunk below the slatwall
surface. The nail holes can be filled with special color-matched putty to
camouflage them.

Q: Can slatwall be installed over drywall?
A: Yes. It can also be installed on bare studs and concrete walls.
To attach slatwall to concrete (solid or block) walls, you can install furring
strips or use special concrete screws.

Q: Does installing slatwall eliminate the need for drywall on the wall
between a home and attached garage?
A: No. Building codes require drywall on that wall. However, you can
eliminate drywall on other walls and save the expense of drywalling and painting
(and repainting!) them.

Q: Can I install it myself? Do I need special tools?
A: You can install it yourself, hire a local contractor to install it, or we
can install it if you live in Michigan. Slatwall is cut and drilled with
ordinary woodworking tools. We've developed a number of specialized tools
to make installation faster and more precise. Using these tools is
desirable, but not required.

Q: Can I use more than one slatwall color on a wall?
A: Yes! This can create a dramatic visual effect. For example, if your
primary slatwall color is gray, you may choose to have a band of white slatwall
at the top or bottom of your walls, or in the middle. Typically, this band
will be one or two panels high (panel heights are 12 or 15 inches).

Q: Must I install slatwall from the floor to the ceiling?
A: No. You can install a band at a convenient storage height, such as 4
to 6 feet from the floor. The height of this band is generally 1 to 4
feet. You can also install slatwall on everything but the upper wall area,
which is less convenient to access for storage (unless you use our
robotic storage system). The
following photograph illustrates this:

This wall is partially covered by slatwall and is
complete except for puttying
the nail holes and installing the electrical switch and outlet cover plates.

Q: How large are the panels?
A: We offer a variety of panels in heights of 12 to 15 inches, and lengths of
4 to 8 feet. Thus, our slatwall can be installed by one person.

Q: Can slatwall be painted?
A: Yes, but this is generally done only when you
avidly want a slatwall color other than our stock six colors. If you order
at least 5000 square feet, we can mold slatwall in any desired color.

Q: How much weight can I attach to the slatwall?
A: That depends on the accessory and how far the object is suspended from the
slatwall face. Our slatwall is much stronger than drywall,
pegboard, and wood (MDF) slatwall. The
